I'm Back

Hello,
I'm back (after what-100 years?).Been in a place of darkness for a while now.Total apathy. It Sucked. If I had not gone through this period,I would not be me. Now I know what the warnings signs can be and can act more quickly to divert this abyss of darkness, should it raise it's head again.
I have a lot of new stuff that I've been working on and am going to post photos now.

Talent All Around Me

Last Wednesday, the Performance Group held their annual Talent Show. Now I know that in The Open Eye Gallery there are artists who are blooming with new ideas every day.The Performance Group blew me away with all the talented acts on stage.Singing,
dancing in groups or solo. One in particular was an individual who performed a spoken word piece of how he looks at life was so moving that I almost cried. In fact I did cry.
Props also go out to the staff members who coached, supported and enabled quite a few of brand new performing artists to shine. They are all Stars to me.
I have only been able to post one of the examples of something new that I am doing.
I had this idea that when people normally purchase greeting cards for a special occasion, they may spend upwards of $8 or so U.S dollars.I am painting recycled wood scraps as commissioned or original works for $20-$25 U.S.
After all ,who wouldn't rather give a piece of art with an inscription or quote on the back as commemoration to keep instead of a generic card. These have become very popular ( see FeSTARvity) and I am having a bunch of fun with them as well.

"Through the Rabbit Hole" Healing Visionary Art

I've been so busy in the last few weeks, and I know that for most is not a valid reason for slacking, but for me it is.I have been advised that an emotional inventory might be just what I needed. It has been.Enough of that,AACC is hosting a show of Arundel Lodge artists and their works. The reception was held June 5 and we had a great turnout.I would like to personally thank all who attended, and the show itself will run through June 28, if you missed said reception, in the Pascal Gallery at AACC.What is so very important about this show is the fact that, sure some of us have had, and have coming up, shows on an individual basis. This marks the first time, for so many of the talented artists of ALIthat their own works are being shown outside of the Open Eye Gallery at ALI.
My own long hoped and wished for summer festival schedule has had to be trimmed quite a bit due to budgetary and equiptment setbacks, but I will be posting as soon as I know that I'm showing.I'm still getting quite a few commissions each month,as I create and discover new media to work on,commensurate with my current situation.I just need to get my message and works out to more of the art loving community.Hope springs eternal.

National Mental Health Month is NOW!!!

Hello friends,I am going to begin by saying "better late than never?".This month is ,of course National Mental Health Month, and also My Mental Health Month.Believing that my blogging is a result of my ongoing recovery,it's actually my ongoing life,I would love for all to look into your mindfull hearts and reach out to someone with a mental illness.Something as simple as "Good Job" or a donation of time, materials, and of course if you are able in these tough times to throw a few bucks at Arundel Lodge,Inc,would be gratefully recieved.
As far as work goes,I am furiously working on three different weavings, and have just about completed my current project. As always, keep an eye out for showings and festivals coming.
                                              Love and peace
